This spell ID was originally for Raccoon Kit, which appears to have never existed except inside a test client of WoW. Please do not provide feedback to WoWDB that the tooltip is broken. The problem is on Blizzard's end, not ours. (Click the Wowhead link in the Quick Info box up top-right - they have the exact same problem.) I am keeping the screenshot by NateJay - by the way, NateJay, that is a really good screenshot - for historical purposes; please do not report it, either.
Now, on to the actual topic: Sun Darter Hatchling is beautiful. Even on low graphic settings, it remains a bright spot of colors. It's also unusual as a battle pet because this faerie dragon is Critter type. If you are going for pet battle achievements that require specific pet combinations, this is worth at least considering to add to your arsenal.
I am also happy to report that Sun Darter Hatchling is not unique and can be caged. I do not believe that it may be collected more than once per character, so this strongly favors altoholics if you are auction house goblin - though as any real auction house goblin would tell you, the gold-making opportunity here is not in the pet but in selling the items needed to get to its egg. ;)
Here is a concise video overview of the items needed and when to use them by Hazelnuttygames.
A tip for those in pursuit of this little beauty: trying to shortcut things by jumping down or dropping off of ledges anywhere in the cave will get you ported out and you'll have to run back, losing valuable time. The dwarves sage advice in the game, "Keep your feet on the ground!" is never more true than in this. The caution of not jumping off is also applicable to the long ramp that you have to go up to enter the other two chambers before the egg chamber. I tried jumping down from the top to the tunnel below. Got ported the moment I hit the ground.
At the end, read the plaque, use the scroll, then go down the ramp to the water. Do not jump off the little rise to make a straight run for the egg. Trust me. You will get ported out. (Not that I found that out by personal experience. More than once. Nope.)
For general info, here is the original guide put together by the wonderful players that discovered how to obtain this pet.
