Posted Jun 20, 2013 (Patch 5.4.0)Shards of Ahune is looted from Lord Ahune's Ice Chest by all eligible players. Luma Skymother is inside the special instance, so accept the quest and walk back a short distance to her. The quest can only be completed once - ever - per character. In other words, the quest does not reset for a character each time the world event occurs.
Important: Luma Skymother is a special NPC that exists only inside the instance version of Slave Pens that includes Ahune. If you leave the dungeon group without turning the quest Shards of Ahune, you will need to queue again for Lord Ahune.
For completionists: It may be possible to gain both tabards. I believe Zandres2's method (site:wowhead.com) falls under the category of "creative use of game mechanics."
