Posted Feb 23, 2013 (Patch 5.2.0)Just found out the hard way that you don't want to use this item in a body of water (such as Whitepetal Lake). Wikky will spawn somewhere beneath you and be unable to interact with, wasting the 2-hr cooldown.

Posted Dec 30, 2014 (Patch 6.0.3)Confirmed as working in Draenor. The helpful items will, however, be from Mists of Pandaria content.
A great place at level 100 for super-duper easy kills (that count toward summoning Helpful Wikky) are the large group of fast-respawning Carnivorous Squirrel in a cave, Gloomshade Cove, Shadowmoon Valley. (Same cave that has Bubbling Cauldron treasure in it.)
